How to keep your smile healthy at college
August is here, and that means that many of you who have college-aged children will be sending your kids off to campus in a few short weeks. You make sure that they have their extra-long twin sheets, mini-fridge, and books, but how do you ensure that they keep up with their dental hygiene once classes start? Don’t worry; we’re here to help!
If your child uses an electric toothbrush regularly, you should encourage her to bring it with her to school. Don’t forget to pack a few extra toothbrush heads, too. Remember, you should change your toothbrush every 3-4 months once the bristles start to fray. Also, make sure your child has plenty of floss. If possible, your child should store her toothbrush in her own room instead of in a public cubby (studies show that there are a lot of germs present on toothbrushes in communal bathrooms). If your child is not using an electric toothbrush give the office a call because we have an amazing care package which includes a dental office exclusive Oral B Genius electric brush, toothpaste, floss, mouth rinse, extra toothbrush heads, traveling case and on-line tracking app, great for teenagers, college kids and adults.
Of course, schedule your child’s check-up for a fall, winter or spring break. Follow these tips, and your kids will have plenty to smile about! Give us a call at (816) 454-3336 or fill out our contact us form to schedule an appointment.
